The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ rumours about Ravindra Jadeja leaving Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have become louder after the star all-rounder’s official Instagram account was removed without any prior intimation. Jadeja has been the main reason for CSK’s triumph over the years, being a significant contributor to their wins in 2018, 2021, and 2023, and also managing the team briefly during the 2022 IPL season.

It is reported that CSK might be on the verge of one of the biggest trade deals in IPL history, which includes Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson. The extravagant blockbuster move can have Samson relocating from Jaipur to Chennai and Jadeja being sent to Rajasthan. Further, the news of the English all-rounder Sam Curran being the third party in the deal, thereby joining the Royals, is exciting to think ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌about.

Samson-Jadeja swap in the works as CSK plan for life after Dhoni

Dhoni Samson

According to reports, CSK view Samson as the future face of the franchise, capable of strengthening their batting unit and offering leadership beyond the MS Dhoni era. However, Jadeja’s potential departure — given his stature and emotional connect with CSK fans — is expected to spark mixed reactions among supporters.

A senior CSK official, speaking to PTI, reportedly confirmed that negotiations with Samson are ongoing, while Rajasthan Royals are currently reviewing the proposal before taking a final call. Meanwhile, fans noticed that Jadeja’s Instagram handle, “royalnavghan,” had been deactivated, fuelling further speculation about his future.

Jadeja has traditionally been active on social media, often posting glimpses of his life, his bond with CSK, and his affection for fans during the IPL season, making the sudden disappearance of his account all the more notable.

Dhoni to approve Ravindra Jadeja's trade?

Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif believes that MS Dhoni may greenlight the trade if it benefits the team’s long-term goals.

“If Jadeja has to be sacrificed for the team’s good, Dhoni will do it. People say Dhoni operates based on friendships, but that doesn’t mean his focus shifts from winning. The goal is to make CSK a champion. If Dhoni feels he can get a better option, he will take that decision,” Kaif said.

Interestingly, Jadeja began his IPL journey 16 years ago with Rajasthan Royals, the team that won the inaugural IPL title in 2008, making this potential move a full-circle moment in his career.
