NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan captain and ex-PCB chairman Ramiz Raja continued to roast his own country's players on air during the first Test against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The player-turned-commentator took a hilarious dig at 39-year-old spinner Noman Ali for his choice of sunglasses on the second day.

"He is wearing a fancy pair of glasses," he said during commentary. "They look like welding glasses," he added.

Pakistan left-arm spinner Noman Ali impressed with figures of 4 for 85 as world champions South Africa battled to 216 for 6 on a challenging surface for batters.

Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja faced criticism for his on-air remarks about Babar Azam on the opening day. The former captain's comment - "Ab yeh drama karega" - didn't sit well with Babar's massive fan base, who took to social media to slam Ramiz for his words.

Ramiz was heard saying this after an unsuccessful caught behind appeal against Babar who was at the crease when the South Africans took a DRS review.

While the review was being taken, Ramiz can be heard saying on air: "Out hai ab yeh drama karay ga (he is out, he will now do drama)", referring to Babar.

Babar's fans didn't take the comments kindly and criticised Ramiz, pointing out how a Pakistani commentator can call a former captain of the national team a drama.

Ramiz was chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2021-22 when Babar was made captain of all three formats and allowed his say in team selection matters.

One fan said former players were jealous of Babar's popularity and stardom.
