NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli remains a livewire on the field; even though he hasn't clicked with the bat in the first two ODIs against Australia, his passion and love for the game are unmatched, setting an example for future generations on what it truly means to play for your nation.

Kohli erupted in celebration after taking a simple catch at mid-off to dismiss Australia's dangerous opener Travis Head off Harshit Rana. Head edged a length delivery while trying to close the face of the bat, sending the ball straight to Kohli. What stood out, however, was Kohli's exuberant celebration with his teammates.

Earlier, India relied on former skipper Rohit Sharma's steady 73 and Shreyas Iyer's 61 to post a competitive 264 for nine against Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.

Sent in to bat, Rohit faced 97 balls, striking seven boundaries and two sixes, while Iyer scored his 61 off 77 deliveries, including seven fours.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, fell for another duck, marking his first successive ducks in ODIs.

Axar Patel also contributed with a handy 44 off 41 balls. Towards the end of the innings, Harshit Rana (24*) and Arshdeep Singh (13) added a crucial 37-run partnership for the ninth wicket, helping India reach a challenging total.
