NEW DELHI: In line with the recent BCCI policy mandating national players’ participation in domestic cricket, Karnataka on Wednesday included KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, and Prasidh Krishna in their squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.

PTI had reported on Monday that the BCCI has made it compulsory for all current India players to feature in at least two matches of the premier domestic one day tournament.

The decision was taken in view of the three week gap between the final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad on December 19 and the opening ODI against New Zealand on January 11, 2026.

However, Rahul, Prasidh, and Devdutt are not part of the current India T20I squad, which makes them available for Karnataka’s tournament opener against Jharkhand on December 24.

Karnataka have been placed in Group A along with Jharkhand, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Tripura, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, with all their league matches scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad.

Mayank Agarwal has been retained as captain despite the side failing to qualify for the knockouts of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Karun Nair will serve as Agarwal’s deputy.
