NEW DELHI: Australian opener Phoebe Litchfield joined the elite list of Australian batters to score a century in an ICC Women's World Cup knockout match, smashing a brilliant hundred against India in the semifinal in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.

This was the maiden World Cup century for the left-handed Litchfield, who also made history by becoming the youngest batter (22 years and 195 days) to score a hundred in a Women's World Cup knockout game, and the second-youngest Australian to achieve the feat in the tournament's history.

She also broke the record of smashing the fastest-ever century (77 balls) in the history of Women's World Cup knockouts.

Litchfield boasts an astonishing record against India, having amassed 627 runs in just nine innings at an impressive average of 69.66, including two centuries and four fifties.

Litchfield's splendid knock came to an end when Amanjot Kaur knocked over her middle stump. The left-hander tried to scoop the ball towards deep fine leg but was too early on the shot. Her 119-run knock off 93 balls was studded with 17 fours and three sixes.
