Perth bowlers keep Sixers in check

After winning the toss, Perth chose to bowl first, and the move worked perfectly. Steve Smith got the Sixers off to a flying start, scoring 24 runs from just 13 balls. However, his innings was cut short when Aaron Hardie trapped him lbw following a successful review.

Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques tried to stabilize the innings but struggled as the run rate began to fall. Joel Davies chipped in with 19 crucial runs lower down the order, helping Sydney reach a total of 132.

For Perth, it was a brilliant bowling performance. Jhye Richardson and David Payne each took three wickets, dismantling the Sixers’ batting lineup and keeping the pressure constant. The Scorchers’ all-round effort ensured Sydney never gained momentum.

Marsh and Allen dismantle Sixers

In reply, Perth made light work of the chase despite a brief rain interruption. Openers Mitch Marsh and Finn Allen provided a perfect start, putting on 80 runs for the opening wicket in just 8.2 overs. Their partnership set the tone for an easy chase, taking the game completely out of the Sixers’ reach.

Josh Inglis then finished the innings with a fluent 29, steering Perth to victory and capping off a dominant performance.
