NEW DELHI: In a surprising move ahead of its 11th season, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to sell the Pakistan Super League (PSL) broadcast and media rights to India, Geo News reported.

The upcoming tournament, scheduled from March 26 to May 3, will run alongside the IPL, which is set to continue until May 31, creating a rare head-to-head clash between the two T20 leagues.

The PSL is looking stronger than ever this year, with star power on the rise. The league recently expanded with two new franchises, including the Sialkot Stallionz, who have made headlines by signing former Australian captain Steve Smith. The tournament has also attracted top international coaching talent, with names like Tim Paine and Jason Gillespie joining the mix.

Teams now move into the next critical phase: player retentions, which must be completed by February 6, followed by the first-ever PSL auction on February 11. With fresh talent, big names, and growing international attention, the 2026 season promises to be a thrilling edition for fans.

Cloud hovers over upcoming PSL season

After Pakistan decided to boycott their T20 World Cup group match against India in Colombo on February 15, the ICC warned the PCB of serious implications, stating that the decision was not in the interest of the global game.

"The ICC hopes that the PCB will consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country as this is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, which it is itself a member and beneficiary of," the global body said in a statement.

"While the ICC respects the roles of governments in matters of national policy, this decision is not in the interest of the global game or the welfare of fans worldwide, including millions in Pakistan," it further stated.
