The India vs Pakistan drama has been nonstop at the 2025 Asia Cup. First, it was the Handshake row that took the rivalry by storm. The highly anticipated Super 4 clash ended with India being victorious once again over eternal rivals Pakistan on Sunday. But the tensions didn't end there. Instead, they have continued to boil down further and further, with Pakistan reaching out to Andy Pycroft, who was the match referee for their game against India, to lodge a complaint against the 3rd Umpire during the fixture.

Last week, the ICC denied PCB's demand to remove Andy Pycroft as the match Referee twice. This resulted in the Pakistani cricket team almost boycotting the Asia Cup tournament. But eventually things went on without any change. Now, the Pakistan team management has lodged a complaint against the TV Umpire with the International Cricket Council over a controversial decision that saw Fakhar Zaman being given out in the 3rd over of the first innings.
Fakhar Zaman was given out caught behind by Sanju Samson off Hardik Pandya for 15, but it was a controversial call. On-field umpire Gazi Sohel wasn't convinced, so he sent the decision upstairs to the third umpire, Ruchira Palliyaguruge. The TV replay convinced the third umpire that it was a clear catch, so Palliyaguruge ruled it was clean, sending the Pakistani veteran batter back to the pavilion.

As quoted in a report by Telecomasia.net, sources said, "Pakistan team manager Naveed Cheema went to the match referee, Andy Pycroft, to complain but was told that it was not his domain. Alternatively, the manager sent an email to the ICC complaining about the umpire."
The Pakistani skipper, Salman Ali Agha, spoke on the dismissal after the match, stating, "I don't know about the decision. It's obviously the umpire's job. Umpires can make mistakes. And I have no problem with that. But it does look like it bounced before it was carried to the keeper. You can say the way he was batting, if he batted throughout the power play, we probably would have scored 190. But yeah, that's the umpire's call. And they can make mistakes. I don't know. To me, it bounced before it reached the keeper."
The complaint lodged against the third umpire is the latest incident of animosity in a long list of such incidents that have been taking place around India vs Pakistan.
