However, India's finest victory against Australia on their shores came in 2008. It was a tri-series featuring Sri Lanka, in which India qualified for the finals along with the home team. In the best-of-three finals, India emerged as the winners, defeating Australia in back-to-back games. Led by a young MS Dhoni, the team defeated Australia twice in two games, courtesy of the genius of Sachin Tendulkar, who scored a hundred and 91 in the two matches.
