NEW DELHI: India were not presented with the Asia Cup trophy following their victory over Pakistan in the final, due to a dispute with Asia Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi. After India refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi, he walked away with it, insisting that he alone would present the trophy to the team.

The controversial behaviour of Naqvi, who also serves as PCB chief and Pakistan's interior minister, denied the Indian players the chance to celebrate their Asia Cup victory with the trophy. Undeterred, the Indian team shared photos on social media with imaginary trophies to mark the moment.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy grabbed attention for his humorous celebration, posting an image holding a coffee cup as his "trophy."

In the third episode of Breakfast With Champion, Varun revealed the story behind his quirky "cup" celebration following India's win over Pakistan.

"So, I knew that we were going to win because by the time we won the second match against them, I knew that if we were going to meet them in the finals, we were going to win," said Varun Chakravarthy.

The spinner revealed that he had initially planned to sleep with the trophy and capture a photo beside it. However, since the team wasn't awarded the trophy, he humorously ended up posing with a coffee mug instead.

"So, I had planned everything. I was going to take a photo like I am sleeping with a cup and all those things. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. Just a coffee cup. So, I went ahead with it," he said.

"I knew that we would win all games. We are the number one team in the world. (Cup cheen sakte hai) The Cup can be taken away, but we are champions," he added.

After the win, Varun posted on social media, "Akkha duniya ek taraf, aur mere India ek taraf. Jai Hind!"
