NEW DELHI: Englishman Nicholas Lee will step into the role of strength and conditioning coach of the Indian women’s cricket team once the ongoing Women’s Premier League comes to an end.

The five-team Women’s Premier League is scheduled to run from January 9 to February 5, with matches being held across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.

"Lee will take over as the new strength and conditioning coach of the Indian women’s cricket team after the WPL," a source told PTI on Thursday.

After the WPL concludes, the Indian women’s team is set to tour Australia for a multi-format series that will take place between February 15 and March 9.

Lee, a former right-handed batter who scored 490 runs in 13 first-class matches, brings extensive experience in elite-level sport. Most recently, he served as the strength and conditioning coach of the Gulf Giants during the fourth season of the UAE’s ILT20 league.

Prior to that, Lee worked with Afghanistan’s men’s team as their strength and conditioning coach from January 2024 to December 2025. He also held the position of head of physical performance at the Bangladesh Cricket Board between March 2020 and January 2024.

A graduate of Anglia Ruskin University, Lee has previously been part of the Sri Lanka men’s team setup, where he worked as the strength and conditioning coach from October 2016 to March 2020.

At the domestic level, he was associated with Sussex County Cricket Club, serving as the lead strength and conditioning trainer from March 2012 to September 2016, after initially working as an assistant from January 2010 to March 2012.
