West Indies suffered a nearly humiliating defeat against Nepal after being reduced to a total of 83. This marks Nepal’s unprecedented series triumph in the United Arab Emirates. And also, the first time a member nation reduced to a low total against an associate nation.

West Indies batters struggled to score beyond single digits; a boundary in the sixth over elevated their total to 16 for 2. But by then, Nepal offspinner Dipendra Singh Airee had bowled Jewel Andrew out. Nepal’s slower balls and full deliveries helped them to grip the score. Along with that, the West Indies batting unit failed to bat effectively, and the mistiming of their shots stopped them from scoring a big total; only Jason Holder scored 21 off 15 balls, out of the batters.

Mohammed Aadil Alam got 4 wickets, sending back Kyle Myers, Amir Jangoo and Navin Bidaisee. Khushal Bhurtel clinched a three-wicket haul to clean sweep the West Indies batters.

Nepal’s own innings saw opener Aasif Sheikh establish a formidable partnership with Sundeep Jora, taking the innings to 74 for 3. Jora hit five sixes and three fours, scoring 63 off 39 balls. Sheikh remained unbeaten till the end of the innings, with 68 off 47 balls.

West Indies bowler Akeal Hosein, who took 2 wickets for 21 runs, proved to be the bowler of the day for West Indies. However, the West Indies failed to make a result in their innings, as their total was merely 83. This makes this result more important because Nepal had secured the same result ahead of the qualifiers for the 2026 T20 World Cup next month, and that too without their lead spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who had sat out both matches of the series.

Nepal are highly favoured to win the tri series against West Indies, as they have already sealed the series win.
