NEW DELHI: In a first-of-its-kind and truly unique moment, cricket fans were treated to something special as they caught their first glimpse of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 trophy - a sight never witnessed before.

The trophy was unveiled at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo ahead of the first ODI between Sri Lanka and England, but it was the manner of the unveiling that became a spectacle to remember for both fans and players alike.

The unveiling took an aerial turn as professional skydivers descended into the stadium in perfect formation, with one of them delivering the ICC T20 World Cup trophy straight to the field.

Although the parachutes briefly dragged across the turf on landing, the diver safely made it to the centre circle, turning the moment into a breathtaking spectacle.

The dramatic reveal also signalled the return of a marquee ICC event to Sri Lanka for the first time since 2012. While the Trophy Tour had been formally launched earlier at the Presidential Secretariat, it was the stadium ceremony that gave fans their first up-close glimpse of the iconic silverware.

The R Premadasa International Stadium is set to take centre stage during the tournament, hosting eight high-stakes matches, highlighted by the much-anticipated India–Pakistan showdown on February 15.

Following the Colombo launch, the trophy will embark on a four-day journey across Sri Lanka, making stops in Kandy, Dambulla and Jaffna, giving fans nationwide a chance to connect with the World Cup buzz up close.
