NEW DELHI: Tilak Varma is emerging as India's finisher in T20Is, holding his nerves after a few late hiccups in India's chase against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match on Sunday.

The left-handed batter (30 not out off 19 balls) ensured that after a mini-collapse, that there were no more twists in the tale, finishing the chase with utmost calm in 18.5 overs, smashing Shaheen Afridi for a six and a four.

For his finishing effort, Tilak was awarded the 'Impact Player of the Match' medal by training assistant Raghavindraa in the dressing room, following head coach Gautam Gambhir's request to do the honours.

"I was so happy. I wanted to finish the game in the last two matches as well, but couldn't. Today, my turn came, and I was able to do it for the team. I will keep trying till the end of the tournament. As Gauti sir said, even till the World Cup, we will keep learning and moving forward," Tilak said in a dressing room BTS video shared by the BCCI.

Abhishek Sharma combined brutality with finesse in a scintillating 74, guiding India to a comfortable win in a tricky chase and sealing a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in an ill-tempered contest in Dubai on Sunday.

Left-handed Abhishek, who got 30-plus knocks in all the group league games, hit six fours and five sixes in his 39-ball knock.
