NEW DELHI: Away from all the hullabaloo after Irfan Pathan's hookah jibe went viral on social media, former India captain MS Dhoni was spotted enjoying the US Open quarterfinal match between Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Businessman Hitesh Sanghvi took to Instagram to share a picture with Dhoni along with a clip from Djokovic's match.

Talking about the quarterfinal clash, Djokovic registered 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Fritz to seal his another semifinal spot at the Grand Slam.

Djokovic will next face rising tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal clash on Saturday. The 22-year-old Spaniard, already a five-time Grand Slam winner, will be aiming to upstage the Serbian on the big stage.

Dhoni, meanwhile, was in the news after Pathan's clip of an old interview resurfaced on social media in which he remarked that he could not please anyone by setting up a hookah in someone's room, indirectly accusing Dhoni of favouring players who did that.

“Yes, I asked him. During the 2008 Australia series, Mahi bhai's statement came out in the media that Irfan wasn't bowling well. I thought I had bowled well throughout the series, so I went and asked Mahi bhai,” Pathan had said in the interview with Sports Tak.

He further remarked, “I don't have a habit of setting up hookah in someone's room or talking about this. Everyone knows. Sometimes if you don't speak about it, it's better. A cricketer's job is to perform on the field and that is what I used to focus on."
