India bowling coach Morne Morkel expressed satisfaction at how his bowlers bounced back in the third T20I against South Africa after a heavy defeat in the previous game. After conceding 213 runs, including 22 extras, in the second T20I, India restricted the Proteas to just 117 runs in Dharamsala on Sunday, sealing a seven-wicket win and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

“I am just happy how the boys bounced back,” Morkel said in a video posted on bcci.tv.

Jasprit Bumrah missed the match due to personal reasons, prompting Harshit Rana’s inclusion. Arshdeep Singh and Rana both picked up two wickets each, bowling tight spells to keep South Africa under pressure.

It was a sweet redemption for Arshdeep, who had struggled with seven wides in the previous game. “In the last match, when I was bowling wides, the camera was panning to the coach (Morkel) very often as if he had given some faulty plan to me. I would like to say sorry to Morne and will also try to ensure that he gets less screen time,” Arshdeep joked, bringing a smile to his coach.

Arshdeep emphasised the importance of staying level-headed regardless of performance. “Whether good or bad, I always try to be a level-headed person who makes reels and keeps the dressing room atmosphere light. That’s my main motivation,” he said.

Rana, speaking about his own performance, praised Arshdeep’s ability to create pressure from the other end. “I like bowling with him, he creates pressure from the other end. It is helpful in my bowling. It’s my first time in Dharamsala, I enjoyed bowling here. The weather helps a lot,” he added.
