Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman has apologised to the Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) on how the Asia Cup final ended, the way it did, in the form of a chaotic mess. According to India Today’s report, it is suggested that Naqvi has adopted a cordial tone in the ACC meeting, days after the final, when he withheld the Asia Cup champions from celebrating their victory.

Sources say that Mohsin Naqvi has expressed his regret that the situation should have been under control, and the matter escalated way too much. It was more of an ordeal, because when the Indian team refused to take the trophy from a Pakistani minister. Naqvi completely scrapped away the trophy ceremony and took the silverware with himself, instead of asking some other neutral official to present the trophies and medals.

At the ACC meeting on 30 September, BCCI strongly criticised Mohsin Naqvi, further BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla stated that the Asia Cup is a property of ACC, and the PCB chairman should not have taken away with him, without any official handover.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said, “"We have decided not to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the senior leaders of Pakistan. That was a conscious decision."

While apologising to the BCCI for the entire episode, Naqvi, meanwhile, chose to stand his ground, refusing to accept the handover of the trophy to the Indian team. He stated that the trophy should have been handed over to captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was supposed to go in person to the ACC office in Dubai for collection.

The BCCI reacted quickly, stating that the Indian skipper had no reason to go to Dubai for a handover that should have taken place on the evening of the final itself.
