Mohammed Siraj expressed excitement ahead of the upcoming two-Test series between India and South Africa, scheduled to begin on November 14 (Friday) at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The Hyderabad pacer is set to spearhead the Indian bowling attack alongside world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah as India prepares to face the defending World Test Championship (WTC) winners.
The 31-year-old, who is currently the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing 2025–27 WTC cycle, is eager to continue his impressive form. “This series is crucial for the new WTC cycle, especially since South Africa is the defending champion. While they drew 1-1 with Pakistan, we’re confident from our own good form. We’ve created a positive environment, performed well in England, and won against the West Indies. Personally, I’m bowling with good rhythm and looking to make the most of it. Facing strong teams helps identify areas to improve, and I’m really excited for this challenge,” Siraj told JioStar.

Siraj was a key factor in India's 2-match Test series victory in the West Indies as he grabbed a total of 10 wickets in the two matches with an amazing average of 13. Siraj made a fantastic contribution to a five-test home series against England, which India drew 2-2, immediately after that.
Siraj ended the series as the leading wicket-taker with 23 wickets, including two instances of a five-wicket haul and one four-fer, while he bowled more than 1100 deliveries — the highest by any bowler in the series.
With Shubman Gill as the captain, India have made a great start to the ongoing WTC cycle, winning four of their seven matches, losing two, and drawing one. With a PCT of 61.90, they are currently ranked third on the WTC 2025–27 points table.
South Africa, with Temba Bavuma as the captain, have drawn their away series against Pakistan and are coming into the match, but India will be the clear favourites when they play at home.
