NEW DELHI: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for August 2025, alongside New Zealand's Matt Henry and West Indies' Jayden Seales.
Despite featuring in only one match in August, Siraj's nomination comes on the back of a stellar performance in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England at The Oval. The right-arm pacer picked up nine wickets at an average of 21.11.
With Jasprit Bumrah unavailable, Siraj stepped up to lead the Indian pace attack with remarkable determination. He bowled over 46 overs across both innings of the final Test, having also contributed in the previous four matches of the series. Siraj picked up four wickets in England's first innings and followed it up with an outstanding five-wicket haul in the second.
His match-turning performance in the final innings guided India to victory and played a pivotal role in helping the team secure a 2-2 series draw against England.
Matt Henry was the standout bowler as New Zealand dominated Zimbabwe 2-0 in their Test series, claiming 16 wickets across the two matches at a remarkable average of 9.12.
In the series opener, Henry dismantled Zimbabwe's batting line-up, recording 6/39 in the first innings and adding three more wickets in the second to finish with 9/90, earning the Player of the Match award.
He carried his brilliant form into the second Test, taking a five-wicket haul in the first innings and two more in the second, helping New Zealand secure a comprehensive innings-and-359-runs victory.
Jayden Seales played a pivotal role in West Indies’ historic ODI series win over Pakistan, their first in 34 years. The young pacer claimed 10 wickets across three matches at an average of 10 and an economy rate of just 4.10.
He had a quiet start in the opening ODI, managing only one wicket while conceding 59 as Pakistan cruised to victory. However, Seales bounced back brilliantly in the second match, striking with three wickets in seven overs, including the prized scalps of Babar Azam and Saim Ayub.
The third ODI saw Seales at his lethal best, dismantling Pakistan’s batting with a career-best 6/18 - the third-best figures by a West Indies bowler in ODI history - to seal the series in emphatic fashion.
