Left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen was absolutely brutal to India's batting line-up in the Guwahati Test as he picked up six wickets. Jansen, after making a fantastic fifty in the first innings, came back with a fiery spell that resulted in India's collapse, and he joined the legendary Dale Steyn in the list of South African bowlers with whom he shares the record.

Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj began India’s downfall with key wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and B Sai Sudharsan. Jansen then took over, starting with the crucial dismissal of Dhruv Jurel. He later removed Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah to wrap up the tail, finishing with the third-best Test bowling figures for South Africa on Indian soil.
