Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are moving forward with the decision to have ex-Australia all-rounder Tom Moody as their worldwide director of cricket. This is a position that will have him supervising LSG in the IPL, Super Giants of Durban in SA20, and their Manchester-based team in the Hundred. Moody will be the one to coordinate the work of the coaching staff led by Justin Langer, who is still head coach, and Kane Williamson, newly appointed strategic advisor.

Tom Moody brings decades of coaching experience in the Lucknow Super Giants

Moody is one of cricket's most legendary and celebrated coaching figures and has been in the game for more than 20 years in international and franchise cricket. England was the location of his triumph with Oval Invincibles this summer as they won The Hundred for the third time in a row. In addition, ILT20's Desert Vipers benefited from his leadership as he was the director of the Desert Vipers who made the finals in both 2023 and 2025. It is reported that co-owners of the Invincibles, Surrey and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), were interested in Moody's retention. Nevertheless, he allegedly accepted the LSG offer for a broader, multi-franchise role.

RP Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG)-owned LSG has not yet announced Moody's appointment, and the duration of his contract is still a mystery. After IPL 2022, Moody is going to be back in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the first time. He was previously with SRH, where he was very successful between 2013 and 2019, winning the title in 2016. He came back briefly as director of cricket in 2021 before being appointed head coach the next season.
