Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee was fined 10 per cent of her match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Code of Conduct during her side’s match against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.
According to a WPL statement, Lee admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during a match. “For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” the release added.

The incident occurred in the 11th over of Delhi Capitals’ chase of 155 when Lee, who was batting fluently, was adjudged stumped for 46 following an extended third-umpire review. Television replays showed her bat briefly lifting off the crease as wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous removed the bails, resulting in her dismissal just four runs short of a third half-century this season.
Lee appeared visibly disappointed with the decision, though she remained restrained in her response during the post-match presentation. “Look, it was a great take from the keeper. But that’s all I’ve got to say about that,” she said.
Despite the setback, Delhi Capitals had the final say in the contest. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues returned to form with a composed unbeaten 51 off 37 balls, anchoring the chase and guiding her side to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
The win kept Delhi Capitals firmly in the playoff race, with four teams now level on four points, while former champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru continue to lead the standings.
