NEW DELHI: South African spinner Keshav Maharaj's underwhelming performance in the third ODI against Australia saw him slip into a joint top spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings, now sharing the No.1 position with Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana.

Maharaj slipped in the points after returning figures of 1/57 in the series decider, bringing his rating level with Theekshana, who held his position despite not playing during the week.

The biggest leap in the ODI bowling charts came from Lungi Ngidi, who climbed six spots to 28th after finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the series with seven dismissals against Australia.

Australia also had notable gainers, with Sean Abbott jumping nine places to joint 48th and Nathan Ellis surging 21 spots to 65th, thanks to their solid performances against South Africa.

Australia's batters enjoyed significant gains in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings, despite the team suffering a 2-1 home series defeat to South Africa. The World Cup holders were rewarded for their commanding performance in the series finale at Mackay, where they piled on a massive 431/2.

Travis Head (142), Mitch Marsh (100), and Cameron Green (118*) all registered centuries in that match and reaped the benefits in the rankings. Head moved up one place to joint 11th, Marsh climbed four spots to 44th, while Green made the biggest jump, surging 40 positions to 78th.

Josh Inglis also made notable progress, rising 23 places to 64th following his knock of 87 in the second ODI against the Proteas.

At the top of the ODI batting charts, India’s Shubman Gill (784 points) and Rohit Sharma (756) continue to occupy the first two spots, with Pakistan’s Babar Azam (739) holding on to third.
