NEW DELHI: As the Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan approaches, calls to boycott the match are growing louder. However, former India captain and World Cup winner Kapil Dev urged people not to make it a big issue.
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, calls to boycott India's match against Pakistan continue to gain traction in the country. However, the BCCI has clarified that it is merely following the central government's policy, which permits participation in multinational tournaments but restricts bilateral series with Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kapil Dev said, "Just go and win. Those whose job is to play should just focus on playing - there's no need to say anything else. Don't make this a big issue. The government will do its job, and the players should do theirs."

India are the official hosts of the 17th edition of the Asia Cup, which began on September 9. However, ongoing tensions between the two neighbouring nations have prevented either team from playing on the other's home soil. Consequently, the tournament is taking place in the United Arab Emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi serving as the venues.
