Australian allrounder Jess Jonassen has reportedly withdrawn from the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction due to injury. The WPL informed franchises of Jonassen’s unavailability during the pre-auction briefing on Wednesday.
In addition, the league confirmed that batter Pratika Rawal, wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, and seamer VJ Joshitha are also injured. Although their names remain in the auction pool, these players cannot be included in the mandatory 15-player squad. Franchises that pick them will not be allowed to field a replacement. Fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar is not fully fit but will participate in the auction, while Kashvee Gautam has been declared fully fit.
Jonassen, 33, has been a standout performer in the WPL, winning five Player-of-the-Match awards, second only to Harmanpreet Kaur, who has seven. She is reportedly recovering from a long-standing shoulder issue.
The marquee player list for the WPL 2026 auction includes international stars Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Laura Wolvaardt. From India, all-rounder Deepti Sharma and fast bowler Renuka Singh are the two marquee players expected to attract significant attention during the auction.
