NEW DELHI: It was a dream come true for the Indian women's cricket team as they clinched their maiden World Cup title with a 52-run victory over South Africa in the final. But for batter Jemimah Rodrigues, the reality of the historic moment is still sinking in.

Jemimah took to social media to share pictures with her teammates and the coveted trophy, reflecting on what the triumph truly means after years of hard work and perseverance finally paid off.

In the first photo, Jemimah posed alongside Team India's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, captioning it simply, "Good morning world."

In the next, the duo were joined by Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav, with Jemimah playfully asking, "Are we still dreaming?"

Jemimah, who had earlier played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 127 in the semifinal against Australia, was one of the key architects of India's World Cup triumph.

India's breakthrough in the 13th edition of the global showpiece made them only the fourth team to win the trophy, joining Australia (7), England (4) and New Zealand (1) in the pantheon of champions.

With the victory, Harmanpreet's team finally buried the ghosts of past heartbreaks - the 2005 and 2017 finals - and delivered India's much-awaited World title, a watershed moment for the game in the country.

After posting 298 for 7 - the second-highest total in tournament history - India held their nerve to bundle out South Africa for 246 in 45.3 overs.
