NEW DELHI: Jaydev Unadkat has added another chapter to his remarkable domestic career. The left arm seamer has now become the highest wicket taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, moving past Siddharth Kaul and reaffirming his stature as one of the most consistent bowlers in India’s domestic circuit.
His new milestone came during Saurashtra’s clash against Delhi in Ahmedabad, where he removed Delhi captain Nitish Rana on 76 to claim his 121st SMAT wicket.
Another veteran Indian pacer still going strong in domestic T20s.
Jaydev Unadkat is now the highest wicket-taker in #SMAT history - a testament to his longevity, consistency & ability to evolve despite not being in national colours.

Most wickets in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy:
--Jaydev Unadkat – 121
--Siddharth Kaul – 120
--Piyush Chawla – 113
--Lukman Meriwala – 108
--Chama Milind – 107
Unadkat’s rise to the top of the list highlights how effective and disciplined he has been over the years. His economy of 6.79 and the ability to strike at key moments underline why he remains one of the most trusted names in domestic cricket. His performances have come across formats, and he has long been at the heart of Saurashtra’s successful run in Indian domestic competitions.
In the IPL, Unadkat has represented several franchises across different seasons and continued to deliver valuable spells whenever opportunities arrived. Last year, he was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad, but the franchise decided to release him ahead of the 2026 auction.
Given his latest record-breaking feat and the experience he brings to the table, it will be interesting to see which teams show interest in him at the upcoming auction. His ability to control the run flow and break partnerships makes him a strong candidate for franchises looking for reliability and left arm variety.
