Team India's pacer Jasprit Bumrah made his breakthrough in the second innings of the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Day 4 began with changes in the Indian bowling line-up after Bumrah took the wicket of Jomel Warrican with a brilliant delivery. The right-arm speedster had to wait for an exhausting 94 overs to get his first wicket of the innings, as the visitors displayed excellent resistance with the bat. The Men in Blue laboured through a difficult start to the day while the overnight pair, Shai Hope and John Campbell, maintained control over the bowling attack. Bumrah attempted to break the deadlock on a pitch that was starting to keep the ball low, making it difficult for the pacers to obtain any movement; however, the longer the crisp, youthful cricketers batted, the longer the much-awaited first wicket continued to evade them.

Jasprit Bumrah’s stellar strike to break the tail

After the Lunch break, India made a solid comeback, resulting in a mini-collapse in the West Indies' batting lineup. After Kuldeep Yadav took a double-strike in the 92nd over, which brought West Indies down to 298-7, the West Indies captain, Roston Chase, fell, and trouble began. Bumrah was brought into the attack almost immediately and made an instant impact. On just his second delivery, he removed the off-stump of Jomel Warrican, who half-heartedly poked at a delivery that was angled into him. The ball had somehow got through the otherwise impregnable barrier created by bat and body and uprooted the off-stump, which duly cartwheeled onto the ground. Warrican’s innings was all over for 3 runs off 6 balls, with the score at 307-8.

In his next over, Bumrah struck again with a caught behind that Dhruv Jurel gloved off Anderson Phillip. Phillip managed 2 runs from 10 balls, leaving the West Indies in a precarious position. The pacer's wickets proved critical in forcing the West Indies' hand as India turned the game around, and the pressure was firmly on the West Indies tail as the match neared its conclusion.
