NEW DELHI: Batting icon and former India captain Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday dismissed rumours linking him to the BCCI president's post. In a statement released by his management team, the 52-year-old clarified that such reports were "unfounded" and had no merit.
The clarification came amid speculation that Tendulkar could be in line to replace Roger Binny, whose tenure concluded in July after he crossed the age limit of 70.

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)," read a statement from the company.
"We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations," it added.
The BCCI, the world's wealthiest cricket body, will conduct its elections during the Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 28.
Binny, who took charge as president in October 2022, completed his tenure after reaching the age cap of 70 mandated by the Board's constitution.
The AGM will also see the appointment of the BCCI's ombudsman and ethics officer, along with the selection of the Board's representative to the ICC.
