Nine new players have been added to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction pool, taking the final count to 359 cricketers, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The update came just hours after the board pruned down the original list by removing 1,005 players and releasing a 350-player shortlist for the December 16 auction.
The biggest talking point among the fresh entries is uncapped Indian batter Swastik Chikara, a member of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad in IPL 2025. His initial exclusion drew attention, especially given his impressive run in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League.
Along with Chikara, five other uncapped Indian players have been included:
KL Shrijith, wicketkeeper-batter from Karnataka and part of Mumbai Indians’ setup last season
Manisankar Murasingh (Tripura)
Chama Milind (Hyderabad)
Rahul Raj Namala (Uttarakhand)
Virat Singh (Jharkhand), who has previously featured in the IPL like Milind
Three overseas players have also been added: Australian all-rounder Chris Green, South African pacer Eathan Bosch, and Malaysian wicketkeeper-batter Virandeep Singh. Bosch’s inclusion adds an interesting dimension as he is the brother of South Africa’s Corbin Bosch, retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2026. Meanwhile, Virandeep Singh becomes the only associate-nation player in this year’s auction pool.
Another notable update in the revised list was the nationality change of leg-spinner Nikhil Chaudhary, who has now been reclassified as an Australian player instead of Indian, with his India-born tag corrected.
The IPL 2026 mini-auction is expected to skip the traditional marquee player section, instead beginning directly with capped batters, as reported by Cricbuzz. Notably, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock was also added to the earlier shortlist after his Visakhapatnam ODI century, reportedly on request of an IPL franchise.
