After India sealed a dominant 5–0 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka, seam-bowling all-rounder Amanjot Kaur was awarded the Best Fielder of the Series medal for her outstanding performances in the field.

Head coach Amol Muzumdar heaped praise on the all-rounder in a video shared by the BCCI on Wednesday, as Amanjot received the medal amid loud cheers from her teammates. “I think the best fielder of the series, without a doubt, was Amanjot Kaur,” Muzumdar said.

India capped the series with a 15-run win in the final T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, where Amanjot delivered a calm and effective all-round display. She scored 21 off 18 balls, returned figures of 1/17, and impressed with her sharp fielding throughout the contest.

The whitewash against Sri Lanka rounded off a memorable year for the Indian women’s team. In 2025, India lifted the Women’s ODI World Cup at home, successfully defended the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title, and claimed white-ball series victories against England.

“Wishing you all a very happy New Year,” Muzumdar added. “Let’s step into 2026 the same way we entered 2025. Well done once again, 5–0 is a statement.”

Following the New Year break, Indian players will shift focus to the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL), scheduled from January 9 to February 5 across two venues — DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, and Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara.

The tournament will open with defending champions Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, hosting Royal Challengers Bengaluru, captained by Smriti Mandhana, the 2024 title winners.

While Mumbai Indians remain the most successful side with two WPL titles, RCB are the only other team to have lifted the trophy. Delhi Capitals, now led by Jemimah Rodrigues, have finished runners-up three times, while Gujarat Giants, under Ashleigh Gardner, and UP Warriorz are still chasing their maiden final appearance.
