India vs West Indies Live Score: Day 3 Pitch Report
Deep Dasgupta and Ian Bishop: "Standing at the North End, there are some footmarks. There's a nice grass cover that has kept it together nicely. The cracks are a lot more evident but they are not too bad because of the grass. Batting from this end, it looks quite secure and runs are available. It looks good from this end. From the other end, there are footmarks. You can see the cracks opening up. The spinners will use these footmarks."
IND vs WI Live Score: Lara's surprise visit
Legendary batter Brian Lara visited the West Indies's dressing room after the second day’s play in the second Test. he 56-year-old Lara is here alongside Viv Richards as a part of 'Mission India' campaign as they are trying to help the cash-strapped Cricket West Indies get some extra funds which will help them revive the dilapidated structure of their long-form game.
"Brian Lara did visit the West Indies dressing room after the end of the day's play. He didn't make any general address to the players but spoke (separately) to coach Darren Sammy and captain Roston Chase and a couple of players," a source privy to the development told PTI.
"He was around for close to 20 minutes. The discussion was more generic about the health of West Indies cricket and way forward."
India vs West Indies Live Score: 'We didn't ask for rank turners'
"No, I am not surprised because we have only asked for slow turners. We didn't ask for rank turners. This is what we had expected that once the game progresses, the pitch would start (offering) turn slowly," Jadeja said when asked whether he is as surprised as his West Indies counterpart Jomel Warrican, who had other ideas after watching highlights of the New Zealand series.
"We have to work hard, bowl well throughout the innings and then only we will be able to get them out. We will continue to do it and hopefully produce good results."
IND vs WI Live Score: Jadeja triggers top-order collapse
John Campbell would consider himself extremely unlucky for the way he got dismissed. His full-blooded sweep that should have gone for a boundary, rammed into Sai Sudharsan's knuckle and got stuck as he was trying an evasive action.
But Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) and Alick Athanaze (41) added 66 runs before Jadeja and Kuldeep struck in quick succession.
Chanderpaul perished while trying to open the face of the bat as he dabbed one down to third man and was caught in slips by KL Rahul.
Athanaze played a forgettable hoick when Kuldeep baited him and the lob was taken by Jadeja at mid-wicket.
Skipper Roston Chase (0) offered a tame return catch to Jadeja and it was a tale of familiar collapse.
India vs West Indies Live Score: Day 2 Recap
Shubman Gill the batter set the tone with his 10th Test century, and Shubman Gill the captain ensured Ravindra Jadeja had enough time to tighten the screws on the West Indies as India surged toward another commanding win in the second Test.
Gill remained unbeaten on 129, reaching his century in the post-lunch session but showing little concern for a potential double hundred against a lacklustre bowling attack.
Displaying team-first intent, he declared India’s innings at 518 for five, an hour into the post-lunch session, giving his bowlers ample time to push for victory.
Despite the pitch not having any significant wear and tear, it was still good enough for Ravindra Jadeja (3/37) to work his magic in tandem with Kuldeep Yadav (1/45), reducing West Indies to 140 for four in 43 overs.
