The cricketing world is in a state of shock after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a boycott of their high-stakes T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India. Scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, this marquee matchup has been thrown into chaos, drawing a sharp and emotional reaction from Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev.

Kapil Dev did not mince words when addressing the situation. He placed the blame squarely on the administration rather than the cricketers, expressing deep concern for the future of the sport in Pakistan. He believes that political decisions forced upon players will ultimately destroy their careers and the country's cricketing legacy.

"If the decision was taken by the players, they can come out and say. However, if the board says that you will not play, the reputation of the country comes down," Kapil Dev stated, highlighting the damage such a move inflicts on Pakistan's global image.

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain was visibly pained by the impact this would have on young Pakistani talent. He argued that denying them the stage to perform against top rivals is unjust.

"It is not looking bright for Pakistan. You are killing the generation," he warned. "Pakistan have given us fantastic talents over the years. But if you will not allow these boys to play in the World Cup, you are killing the generation and hurting the game. You are being unfair to your own players."

While fans are heartbroken, Kapil Dev also offered a harsh reality check. He suggested that while the immediate emotion is strong, world cricket will eventually adapt and move forward without them if they continue down this path.

"The emotions and spectators will be impacted. But, in the long run, no one will miss them. People will not think about it for a long time, and they will ultimately move on," he concluded.

With the match likely to be ruled a forfeit, Pakistan faces a loss of points and potential isolation, a price Kapil Dev feels is too high for the players to pay.
