NEW DELHI: Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his sublime touch with yet another scintillating half-century in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026.

The 14-year-old has become a synonym for attacking cricket over the last one year, producing blistering knocks across the domestic circuit and at the Under-19 level.

Big stage, bigger intent

This time, the knock came in a crucial semi-final against Afghanistan. Chasing a mammoth target, Vaibhav once again gave India a flying start. India were set a stiff target of 311 runs, but the young opener had other plans from the very first over.

Vaibhav went after the bowlers early and brought up a sensational half-century off just 24 balls, reaching the milestone with a six. Because of his fearless approach, India completely dominated Afghanistan in the powerplay during a high-pressure chase.

The most astonishing moment came right after his fifty. Vaibhav celebrated by raising his bat, pointing towards his chest and then towards the ground, a clear “I am here” statement on the big stage that summed up his confidence and intent.

A fine knock comes to an end

However, the knock eventually came to an end when Vaibhav once again went for a big shot. Trying to pull a short delivery from Noor Ahmed, he got a top edge and the ball went straight in the air, resulting in a simple catch at mid-wicket.

Even then, the damage was done. Vaibhav’s knock laid the foundation of the chase and once again showed his impact at the highest level.
