NEW DELHI: Pakistan players have been fined 20 percent of their match fee after being found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate against Sri Lanka in the first ODI in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Pakistan eked out a narrow six-run win in the match.
The penalty was handed down by match referee Ali Naqvi of the Emirates ICC Panel after Shaheen Afridi's team was found to be four overs short of the required rate, even after considering time allowances.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," ICC stated.
The on-field umpires Alex Wharf and Asif Yaqoob, along with third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Rashid Riaz, laid the charge.
Pakistan skipper Shaheen Afridi accepted the penalty, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
