NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants speedster Mayank Yadav is ready to make a strong comeback after being retained ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction. The pacer who played only two matches last season despite being retained for Rs 11 crore, missed the entire domestic season due to a recurring back injury.

Despite speculation that LSG might release him, the franchise chose to back him once again.

Recovery on Track

Mayank, who underwent successful surgery earlier this year in New Zealand, says his rehabilitation has progressed well.

“My recovery is going very well. I have started bowling and everything is on track right now,” he said in an interview with TOI. The pacer also emphasised the work he has put into his fitness to ensure he can contribute fully in the upcoming season.

“I have worked a lot on my fitness. In the upcoming season, I’ll be available for the team from day one and hope to contribute right from the start,” he added.

Gratitude to LSG Management

The young fast bowler expressed his appreciation to LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and the management for continuing to trust him despite his injury setbacks.

“It is a huge thing for me, and I am thankful that despite all the injuries over the past few seasons, LSG is still backing me,” he said.

Mayank also highlighted the personal support he has received from the owner. “Dr Sanjiv Goenka has always been there for me, on and off the field, giving me confidence whenever I needed it,” he noted.

Excited to Bowl Alongside Shami

Looking ahead to IPL 2026, Mayank is thrilled at the prospect of sharing the bowling duties with experienced pacer Mohammed Shami, who was traded to LSG from SRH.

“Shami Bhai was with me in rehab at the National Cricket Academy. I have known him for the last one and a half years. It will be very exciting to share ends with him,” Yadav said.
