NEW DELHI: Harshit Rana's elevation to the Indian team has drawn criticism from fans and experts, as the pacer does not have a notable record in domestic cricket. Matters were compounded by his inability, so far, to make a significant impact at the international level.
While he occasionally delivers breakthroughs at crucial moments, he often concedes a large number of runs in the process.
Speaking to Fox Cricket ahead of the third ODI against Australia in Sydney, Rana said that playing for India is a huge honour. He added that while he enjoys all formats of the game, ODIs hold a special significance for him.

"I love playing all formats. It's an honour to play for Team India, but personally, I love ODI cricket more," Rana said.
Rana was preferred over Arshdeep Singh for the third ODI as India made two changes to their lineup. Prasidh Krishna replaced Arshdeep, while Nitish Reddy's injury opened the door for Kuldeep Yadav.
"Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis," said the team management in a statement.
India are 0-2 down in the series having lost in Perth and Adelaide.
