Rajasthan Royals scripted an emotional homecoming at the IPL 2026 auction by securing Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for ₹7.20 crore, bringing the Jodhpur-born bowler back to the franchise that launched his IPL journey.

The 25-year-old returns to his home-state franchise after spending the last four seasons with Lucknow Super Giants. Bishnoi endured a difficult IPL 2025, where his impact was limited and he was overshadowed by emerging leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi. Following his release by LSG last month, Bishnoi entered the mini-auction in Abu Dhabi on December 16, drawing keen interest before RR moved decisively to seal the deal.
Joining the Rajasthan Royals carries special significance for Bishnoi, who described the move as a deeply personal moment.
“Playing for Rajasthan Royals will feel like playing at home. I started my cricket journey here, and now representing a team that carries the name of my state means a lot to me,” Bishnoi said after the auction.
‘A special talent’: Rajasthan Royals welcome Bishnoi back

Rajasthan Royals lead owner Manoj Badale hailed Bishnoi’s return as a major boost for the franchise, praising both his skill set and competitive mindset.
“Ravi is a special talent and someone our fans were eager to see back in Royals colours,” Badale said. “His return feels like a true homecoming. He’s a highly skilled bowler, an excellent fielder and a player who embodies the hunger and spirit we value at this franchise.”
Bishnoi emerged as a priority target for RR, with the franchise fending off stiff competition in a crowded auction pool to ensure the local star finally represents his home state in the IPL. His addition strengthens Rajasthan’s bowling attack, particularly through the middle overs, where his pace through the air and sharp turn make him a consistent wicket-taking threat.
Across 77 IPL matches, Bishnoi has claimed 72 wickets at an economy rate of 8.21, underlining his ability to perform under pressure against elite batters. His return adds both experience and local flavour to a Royals side eager to build a strong core for the upcoming season.
