An early jolt is occasioned for India way before this much awaited clash, as in-form all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who had scored a fifty in the team's opening match, has been ruled out of the contest. To add to the pressure, the weather forecast has graced the headlines with the threat of a rain interruption.
India, having had an 11-0 win record over Pakistan in the ODI format, had to change their playing 11, with Renuka Singh coming in for an injured Amanjot Kaur.
Pakistan made Sadaf Shamas come in for Omaima Sohali.
All three matches of the recently concluded men's Asia Cup between India and Pakistan were held in a hostile environment. Indian players did not shake hands with the opposition before or after the game.
The champion India also refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from the president of the ACC, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chief of Pakistan Cricket Board and an interior minister in the government with a loud anti-India political stance.
And the hostilities between both neighbours have found new highs after the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 Indian tourists were gunned down by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
India then undertook military action under 'Operation Sindoor' to wipe out terror infrastructure across the border.
