Pandya, 31, suffered a left quadricep injury during India’s Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in the UAE last month. The injury ruled him out of the title clash against Pakistan, with the BCCI medical staff advising rest and rehabilitation.
As per a report of Times of India, Pandya’s condition will be thoroughly examined before a final call is taken on his rehab plan. The initial recovery window was estimated to be four to six weeks, and early indications suggest that the all-rounder may not require surgery. If all goes well, he could make his return to action by next month.
Hardik Pandya misses out on Australia tour
The injury forced Pandya to miss the upcoming tour of Australia, where India will play three ODIs and five T20Is beginning November 19. In his absence, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been added to both squads. The young all-rounder will look to make an impression in what will be his another major overseas assignment.
Meanwhile, the Indian team is set to depart for Australia on Wednesday. Virat Kohli has already joined the squad in Delhi, while Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are expected to link up later in the day.
