NEW DELHI: Australia have made several important changes to their squad ahead of the five-match T20I series against India, starting in Canberra on October 29. The adjustments include injury comebacks, strategic rotation, and the inclusion of promising young players.

Glenn Maxwell will make his return from a fractured wrist and is set to play in the third, fourth and fifth matches. The star allrounder was sidelined during the New Zealand tour but is now ready to take the field.

Ben Dwarshuis will join the team for the fourth and fifth matches, while Josh Philippe has been retained for all five T20Is, providing stability at the top of the order.

A surprise inclusion is twenty-year-old Mahli Beardman, who will feature in the third, fourth and fifth matches. Despite limited senior experience, with just five List A games and two Big Bash matches, Beardman impressed during Australia’s Under-19 World Cup win in 2024, earning player-of-the-match honours in the final. He could make his maiden international appearance in this series.

Josh Hazlewood will play only in the first two T20Is, while Sean Abbott will be available for the first three matches. This rotation allows selectors to manage workloads while giving young players an opportunity to step up.

These changes reflect a mix of injury management and talent development, ensuring Australia has both experience and flexibility in their T20I squad against India.
