NEW DELHI: After the handshake controversy marred the India-Pakistan Asia Cup group-stage match, the Super 4 clash was no different. As expected, India captain Suryakumar Yadav snubbed his Pakistani counterpart at the toss, and the same stance was maintained at the end of the match.
As Tilak Varma finished the game with a six and a four, he and partner Hardik Pandya headed straight to the team camp, skipping the traditional handshake with the Pakistan players. But what became the talking point was head coach Gautam Gambhir's reaction near the boundary line.
Gambhir was caught on camera telling his players, 'Are umpire se to mil le' - a remark that perfectly captured the unusual post-match scenes.

Talking about the match, Abhishek Sharma was brutal and beautiful in equal measure during his scintillating 74 as India made a tricky chase look comfortable, winning an ill-tempered match by six wickets in Dubai.
Left-handed Abhishek, who got 30-plus knocks in all the group league games, hit six fours and five sixes in his 39-ball knock.
Ahead of the clash, Suryakumar had already been questioned about the issue during a press conference, but he chose to deflect them.
When asked indirectly about whether India's "no-handshake" stance would continue, he replied: "What other things are you talking about? You are talking about our performance with the ball? It is a good contest between bat and ball. The whole stadium is packed to the rafters. The best thing is to put your best foot forward and do the best for your country."
