NEW DELHI: The 20 teams set to compete in next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka in early 2026, are now confirmed. The final team to secure a spot was the UAE, who defeated Japan by eight wickets in the regional qualifier held in Oman.

Nepal will make their second consecutive appearance and third overall at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, while Oman will feature for the fourth time. The UAE will return for their third appearance and their first since 2022.

European side Italy will make their tournament debut after advancing through the European Qualifier alongside the Netherlands.

India will enter the event as reigning champions, having defeated South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 final. They join England and the West Indies as the only teams to have won multiple T20 World Cups.

The 2026 tournament will be played using the same format as the 2024 event, with the 20 teams placed into four different groups of five sides ahead of the Super Eights phase that will include the top two finishers from each group.

The Super Eights will feature two groups of four sides, with the top two finishers from each group then progressing to the knockout semi-finals.
