NEW DELHI: In a heartwarming gesture, the heroes of the Bondi Beach terror attack - who risked their lives to protect others when two gunmen opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration - were honoured in a touching ceremony at the SCG ahead of the fifth Ashes Test.
A moving tribute was paid to the victims of the Bondi massacre, as well as the first responders and community members whose courage and compassion shone through in the aftermath of the tragedy.
Before the match, the players formed an on-field guard of honour that was met with a thunderous ovation from the capacity crowd. The loudest roar echoed around the stadium when Ahmed al Ahmed emerged - the brave bystander who charged at one of the attackers and disarmed him, an act that helped prevent further tragedy.
