NEW DELHI: Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour was on Thursday named Sri Lanka’s batting coach for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7.

The global event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of former India Batting Coach Vikram Rathour as the Batting Coach of the Sri Lanka National Team.

"He has been appointed on a consultancy basis, with a primary focus on the team’s preparation for the ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2026," Sri Lanka Cricket said in an official statement.

Rathour is set to take charge from January 18 and will stay with the side until March 10.

A former India international, Rathour featured in six Tests and seven ODIs during his playing career.

The 56-year-old previously served as India’s batting coach from September 2019 to July 2024 and holds a BCCI Level 3 coaching certification.

He is also currently part of the Rajasthan Royals support staff in the Indian Premier League.
