NEW DELHI: Abhishek Sharma's flair with the bat will go up against Shaheen Shah Afridi's deadly accuracy in what promises to be an "edge-of-the-seat" contest in Sunday's Asia Cup final, according to India's bowling coach Morne Morkel, who has worked closely with both young talents.
Morkel had previously served briefly as a bowling consultant for Pakistan, giving him the opportunity to coach the left-arm pacer.
"Shaheen is obviously an aggressive bowler that will try and knock you over. And Abhishek is not going to hold back. I think so far, every time these two went head-to-head, we all as cricket supporters and fans are on the edge of our seats, and that's great for the game," Morkel said.
Both players are 25, but while Shaheen Shah Afridi has been a mainstay in international cricket for some time, left-handed Abhishek Sharma has taken the cricketing world by storm with his flamboyant strokeplay in the ongoing Asia Cup.
Abhishek has yet to fail in six matches, registering three fifties and three scores above 30. In the two India vs Pakistan encounters so far, he has consistently troubled Shaheen.
On September 14, he began the game with a crisp straight-driven boundary off a full toss, and on September 21, he hooked Shaheen for a towering six behind square.

"Yeah, so let's look forward to that on Sunday and enjoy the battle," the former Proteas pace ace added on the two once again locking horns during Sunday's grand finale.
