NEW DELHI: West Indies' veteran all-rounder Dwayne Smith recently featured in the Champions League T10 (CLT10) tournament held in Noida. Representing Super Sonic, Smith played a key role in guiding his team to glory as they clinched the title with a thumping 10-wicket win over Supreme Strikers in the final.
Following the triumph, Smith sat down for an exclusive chat with Sports Yaari, where he opened up about his career, experiences, and the tournament. During the interaction, he also revealed what he considers the most special moment of his cricketing journey - a memory that still excites him.
The Most Special Moment of His Career
When asked about the biggest highlight of his career, Smith initially tried to dodge the question with a light-hearted laugh. "There have been many great moments in my career (smiles), but if I have to pick one, I'd say scoring a century on Test debut was the most special and memorable moment for me," Smith said.
Smith's Test Debut Century
Smith made his Test debut against South Africa on January 2, 2004. While he managed only 20 runs in the first innings, he made an immediate mark in the second by scoring a stunning century. Batting with a strike rate of 100, Smith remained unbeaten on 105 off 105 balls, smashing 15 fours and 2 sixes.
Smith's Career in Numbers
Smith represented the West Indies across all three formats of the game, making valuable contributions both with the bat and ball. In Test cricket, he featured in 10 matches, scoring 320 runs in 14 innings at an average of 24.61, which included a memorable debut century, while also picking up 7 wickets.
