NEW DELHI: Devdutt Padikkal and Karun Nair were named in Karnataka's 16-member squad on Thursday for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group D matches, scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad from November 26.

Padikkal, who is currently part of India's Test squad for the South Africa series, is expected to miss at least the first couple of matches unless released by the national team management.

Karun has been in fine form during the initial phase of the Ranji Trophy, amassing 602 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 100.33, including two centuries.

Karnataka, under the captaincy of Mayank Agarwal, will begin their campaign against Uttarakhand, followed by a day-night clash with Jharkhand. Other teams in Group D include Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Saurashtra, and Tripura.
