India all-rounder Deepti Sharma made history by becoming the first-ever cricketer to achieve a double of 200 runs and 15 wickets in a single ICC Women’s World Cup. It was in the 2025 World Cup final against South Africa at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai where she hit a single off Ayabonga Khaka in the 45th over to get to 200 runs.

Deepti was a standout performer single-handedly through the powerplay and middle over when bowlers had a tough time to make an impact on the batting-friendly tracks. As a result, she is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wickets to her credit which reflects her absolute calm and control in pressure situations. She was also very consistent especially in the important matches - taking three wickets against Pakistan a four-wicket haul against England and scoring important runs in the lower middle order including a half century in the same game.

During the final versus South Africa, Deepti was the one who could have made the crucial difference. India posted a massive total of 298/6 after an eye-catching 87 from Shafali Verma and a solid 45 from Smriti Mandhana set the platform with a 104-run opening stand followed by Deepti’s half-century coming from a very composed inning. Although the outfield was wet resulting in a two-hour delay, India did not let the momentum drop and Shafali was brilliant in the ODI she had not performed since 2022 - her first half-century in more than three years and fifth overall.
