David Warner rolled back the years with a blistering century in the Big Bash League 2025–26, smashing his second hundred of the season and the ninth of his T20 career during Sydney Thunder’s clash against Hobart Hurricanes. The explosive knock came in match 21 of the tournament and showcased Warner at his destructive best.

Opening the innings at the Sydney Showground Stadium, the veteran left-hander tore into the Hurricanes’ attack, hammering an unbeaten 130 off just 65 deliveries. His innings was laced with 11 boundaries and nine towering sixes, lifting the Thunder to a commanding total and igniting memories of Warner’s peak years.

The knock also carried significant historical weight. Warner’s century saw him draw level with Virat Kohli and Rilee Rossouw on the all-time list of most T20 centuries, with all three batters now sitting on nine hundreds each in the format. Only Chris Gayle and Babar Azam remain ahead of the trio.

In the process, Warner moved past several modern greats, including Rohit Sharma, Glenn Maxwell, Jos Buttler, Faf du Plessis, Aaron Finch, Michael Klinger and Abhishek Sharma, all of whom have eight T20 centuries to their name. Warner now stands joint third on the list of most T20 hundreds in history.

Warner’s onslaught powered Sydney Thunder to 205 for 4 in their 20 overs, keeping their faint hopes of qualifying for the BBL 2025–26 finals alive. However, the task ahead remains steep. The Thunder currently sit at the bottom of the eight-team standings with just one win from five matches and must win all their remaining fixtures to stay in contention for the knockout stage.
